We stopped in to Nashville’s downtown public library, which underwent a multimillion dollar renovation in 2001. It’s beautiful!
We’re officially in the Athens of the South – Nashville! The Parthenon is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It was originally built in 1897 as a temporary building as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, but the Nashville residents liked it so much they decided to make it permanent.

Athena

This is the arm of Athena (whom the city of Athens was named after, of course!), holding the winged Nike.
