Downtown Public Library
We stopped in to Nashville’s downtown public library, which underwent a multimillion dollar renovation in 2001. It’s beautiful!
The Parthenon
We’re officially in the Athens of the South – Nashville! The Parthenon is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It was originally built in 1897 as a temporary building as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, but the Nashville residents liked it so much they decided to make it permanent.

Athena

This is the arm of Athena (whom the city of Athens was named after, of course!), holding the winged Nike.
Mammoth Cave National Park
We decided to take a quick weekend road trip down to Nashville, and ended up stopping (and getting VERY lost in!) Mammoth Cave National Park. It’s amazing! The caves extend for more than 350 miles, and have their own internal weather – it’s 54° all year long, and almost no humidity.
